Summer School (grades 9-12)

For a Learning Year June 1 through May 31, here's a check list:

  1. Complete Summer School Budget. If you don't know your username or password, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . You cannot start your program until you've received approval from HVED.
  2. Upon approval of your budget, identify the staff who will work during the program and have them complete an employment packet. 
  3. Using local district procedure, identify potential students and create a communication plan to invite those students to participate in summer school.
  4. Take daily attendance, which will be reported at step 6, below.
  5. MDE requires a signed (parents/guardian) Continual Learning Plan (CLP) for each enrolled student per learning year. Within 10 school days of a student’s enrollment date in your program, complete the CLP; keep one copy (for at least five years) in your district AND submit a copy to HVED.
  6. Within 10 days of your program’s end date, submit MARSS data sheets (template below) of all students who participated during the learning year to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
